Public Buildings

Preservation Consultation

As a historic architect, Katie Kangas understands the true value of preserving architecture and cultural landscapes is continuing to use and engage with these cultural resources. From masonry to wood windows, Pasque Architecture can work with you to identify the treatment, but more importantly the causation of the deterioration. Patching building problems without a better understanding of the cause, could result in further damage to the structure. It always surprises us how quickly water can cause permanent and costly damage. If you are experiencing issues - our team is happy to see the problem before sending a proposal or directing you to a professional who can help.

Former Projects

Bakken Museum Renovation*

The Bakken Museum - housed in the home of Earl Bakken, founder of Medtronic - is located along Lake Calhoun. The museum desired to shift their focus from exhibits to flexible classrooms that can engage their summer campers and events. This project involved careful assessment of existing systems to maximize the ceiling height and strengthen the simple modern renovation.

Canby Theater Historic Structure Report*

The City of Canby sits on the Minnesota side of the state boarder with South Dakota. The city purchased the Theater to maintain this central hub in the heart of their historic downtown. The Historic Structure Report allowed the city to pursue additional funding available for properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The concrete theater, built in 1939, had an early form of air conditioning and continues to delight audiences today.

Central Lutheran Church Addition*

On the south end of Minneapolis, the Central Lutheran Church serves a large congregation as well as individuals in downtown Minneapolis experiencing homelessness. Their mission shaped the new addition to their original stone church. The former maze of buildings was replaced with a new fellowship hall connects seamlessly with the sanctuary. The new conference rooms transform weekly to serve the Sunday school needs, Bible studies, church committees, and mission work.
